The list is long: cosmetics, make-up, lotions, cleansers, hair products, skin care, applicators, perfumes, prescriptions, samples, “free gift bag with purchase”, nail polish, travel toiletries, drugstore products, on-line products, salon products, department store products… You catch my drift. I personally have all of the above. I also have extra products, items I use all the time, and other products that I use every now and then. However, I don’t keep the products that I don’t like or work for me. Not everything on the market is for everyone. We experiment with beauty supplies, which sometimes work and other times they don’t.
Take a look at all of your bathroom cabinets and drawers. Purge your items: Go drawer by drawer, shelf by shelf and get rid of anything you don’t use, like or need. If it smells or you can’t remember when you bought it, chances are it has expired so throw it away. Sort your items: Put all the products you use daily at your fingertips. They need to be close to you or easy to reach. Contain your items: If you have drawers, use them for everyday items. If you only have cabinets, create a basket for everyday things. Either way, the products you use on a daily basis need to be easy to access.
If you have the space, separate the products by category and put them in drawers or baskets. For example, create a drawer/basket for current make-up, applicators, perfume, etc. In another drawer/basket, place your hair products and brushes. In yet another drawer/basket, place lotions and skin care products. Figure out what you use and put them into categories. Everyday products need to be at your fingertips and easy to get. Items that are occasionally used should be a little easier to reach, but not in everyday space. Duplicate or extra products should be stored in one of the following places: high up in a cabinet, in the back of a cabinet/drawer behind your everyday items, or anywhere that is harder to reach. The point is to make your mornings and nights easier by placing close to you only the products you use. The “sometimes” products should be a little harder to reach and the duplicate products need to be completely out of the way. Assign a home for everything and do not put random things in your baskets or drawer space. Maintain your items: On a regular basis, go through and toss out old products or things you didn’t like. Keep your supplies clean, fresh and current.
